Club member Kevin Bodlovich destroys the field at the United States Mid-Amateur Sectional Qualifier at Redlands CC with a bogey free -8 under 62. Awesome Stuff !! Kevin advances to the championship series of the competition at Charlotte CC in North Carolina September 22-27th

Club Member Joel Nelson drops a Hole in One on the 16th at Recreation Park during his round of 16 match with Reuben Loredo. Joel did not advance to the round of 8 however this was a very nice concellation on the days events. Congratulations !!

SCGA Foursome Championships 2016
Tournament was held @ Dove Canyon March 28th & 29th
The team of: Kevin Bodlovich & Nick Mardesich took 5th place in this prestigious event !!
82nd SCGA Amateur Net Championship: Club Members Nick Mardesich & Ed Ornelas have qualified to participate in the championship field to be held @ Industry Hills April 4th & 5th. Nick Qualified in the Bobby Jones flight at Recreation Park 3/11, Edward Qualified 3/24 in the Jack Nicklaus flight at Rio Hondo. Good Luck !! (neither were able to take a top spot)
33rd SCGA Mid-Am: Club member Kevin Bodlovich qualified at Brookside earlier this month to advance to into the finals to be held @ Brentwood CC on April 10th & 11th. Kevin qualifies for the championship round with a 76, 78 & fires an excellent 72 on the final day to finish 24th. Nice Job !!
AM Tour 2016
In the "Mountain Sizzler" April 24th held at La Quinta Resort. New club Member Nick Parisi was able to walk away with the hardware in a Playoff Victory !! Well Done Nick !!
FYI Nick was also able to take 3rd in his flight in the Pasadena City Championship June 4th & 5th.
SCGA One Day Series Golfer of the Year Point Race:
Sean Coleman has moved into a top spot in this year long race. Updates to follow...
Hopefully he can continue his quest to finish in a top 16 spot and earn a spot in the Year-End Match Play Championship !!
UPDATE: Sean falls just short of his goal to reach the top 16 in field of hundreds of participants.... Despite some great results our club's handicap chairman ended up with a top 20 finish and was able to take away a couple of first place crystals for the 2016 season. Not bad. Will update you all with next year's news.

Los Angeles County Champion of Champions event was held @ Los Verdes this year on December the 3rd. Only Club Champions are invited to play. The ILWU Golf Club's newly crowned champion: Kevin Bodlovich went in and came out with A WIN !! With an awesome round of 71 and an interesting scorecard that featured no birdies but was highlighted with 2 Eagles !
Well Done Kevin !!
SCGA Report 2015:
With a 77 @ Desert Island & second place finish Ed Ornelas takes 90 SCGA One Day Series points in the opening event of the 2015 season. Players finishing in a top 16 point position by seasons end gain entry to the Championship Match-Play event @ PGA West this year. Several other club members are attempting to make a run at this goal also. Updates to follow...
Almost an entire year spent qualifying for this event.
UPDATE: Ed finally finished in 7th place overall and went on to play PGA West along with the other 15 players and participated in the single elimination match play event. Unfortunately went out in the first round to the eventual winner of the event. Better luck in 2016. It was a great experience to be a part of.
SCGA Amateur Net Championship 2015: Club members Nick Mardesich, Sean Coleman & Chris Morales have currently Qualified to participate in this prestigious event to be held at Industry Hills April 13th & 14th. Nick Qualified at Recreation Park 3/17 firing a 73 to qualify first in the Jack Niclaus Flight. Sean qualified @ Goose creek 3/24 in the Arnold Palmer Flight finishing 5th in a large field of 30 players. Chris qualified third in the Arnold Palmer Flight @ Rio Hondo with an excellent round of 79. A handful of others came close but were not able to make it this year.

First time qualifiers Sean & Nick were not able to finish well. Veteran to the AM Net Chris Morales was also unable to take down one of the top finishing positions. Congratulations again on making it as far as you did. You represented the ILWU Golf Club quite well !!

Ironically just days after the ILWU Golf Club played REDHAWK and out of the 90 players that showed up Nick Mardesich took Low Gross honors and Ed Ornelas secured the Low Net position it happened again @ an SCGA One Day Series Stableford tournament held at Oak Creek June 7th. A repeat performance from just 72 hours earlier... ILWU Golf Club sweeps the trophies in the top Bobby Jones Flight. Congratulations on taking the hardware !!

ILWU Golf Club takes the Trophies again !!
This time it was @ Lakewood CC in the SCGA Four Ball one day series event held on June 27th. Over 40 teams showed up from all over Southern California. Team of Gary Valdez & Ed Ornelas combine to shoot 61 net in the humidity & heat and come out on top after a back 9 card-off for first !! A slow start on the front 9 did not derail their efforts, they were able to card an excellent 29 on the back to charge the leaderboard and secure the top spot. Well Done !!
USGA Report:
Club Member Kevin Bodlovich cards 4 birdies and fires a -2 under 71 on the Eisenhower course @ Industry Hills on May 13th to advance past U.S. Open Local Qualifying !!
Good Luck in the Sectionals on June 8th.
UPDATE:
Kevin Bodlovich played 36 holes in the Open Sectionals just a couple of pairings away from pros such as Jason Gore & Freddie Couples and had a great run in his attempt at grabbing at a spot in the U.S. Open. After an excellent -3 under round @ Newport Beach Country Club. Needing to make up just a couple of strokes on the field, a not so excellent round @ Big Canyon CC took him out of the picture... Thank You for the excitement of allowing us to follow you on one of your golf quests this year !!

The Industry Hills City Golf Championships 2015: July 24, 25 & 26th. A small group of ILWU G.C. members entered this event (Sean Coleman, Chris Morales, Ed Ornelas, Nick Mardesich & Enrique Benitez) and these are the updated results:
Chris Morales qualified to play Sunday in the Mahan Flight and with solid play ran down the early leaders to take the First Place Championship spot in his flight !! Congratulations !!
Nick Mardesich qualified to play Sunday in the Woods Flight, improved his play each day of the tournament and came up just shy of winning his flight with a final day round of 73. In his first attempt at this City Championship Nick came away with 2nd Place Honors. Well Done.
Enrique Benitez has now qualified to play Sunday each of the last three years he has entered this event and with a 77 on Sunday he made a big move on the leader board and walked away with 3rd Place in the Fowler Flight.
Ed Ornelas qualified to play Sunday in the Kim Flight. After opening round of 79 on The Babe course Friday, dropped back to 5th on Saturday then ended up in a tie for 4th Sunday just one putt from third. His best finish in this event to date.
Sean Coleman was not able to find any traction in this years event unlike last year when he qualified and came away with one of the top positions...
Long Beach Golf Festival 2015
Club member Nick Mardesich continues to play excelent golf this year. Nick captures the A Flight Championship with rounds of 76, 72 & 76 to tie for first place then winning the first hole of a playoff he takes the top spot !! Congratulations Nick !
The World Golf Skills Championship Scramble:
The team of Sean Coleman, Enrique Benitez, Ed Ornelas & Chris Morales qualified from the satellite tournament @ Strawberry Farms. Along with Alternate player and club member Charles Sacco will fill Sean's position this August in Las Vegas for the televised Fox Sports Network event. The team will compete on the 13th, 14th and hopefully continue to participate in the World Finals on the 15th along with hundreds of other players from around the world looking to do the same...
UPDATE:
The team was unable to gain the traction necessary to advance to the championship round. We came out just just 2 strokes short in the extreme weather conditions of 115 degree heat one hour to thunderstorm torrential rain the next hour...Better luck next year.
